Meet the Team: Kirsten
Visual Designer at HumanX
Name: Kirsten Mayer
Title: Visual Designer
How long you have been at HumanX: Almost since the beginning! I started in March 2024, which feels like a lifetime ago.
What’s your background, and what brought you to HumanX?
I came to HumanX from the museum and gallery world. I was attracted to HumanX’s scale and potential. It’s an exhibition of the world’s brightest, and I knew I wanted to be a part of showcasing that innovation. It was surreal to quite literally set the stage for AI’s thought leaders.
What’s one session, speaker, or track you’re personally looking forward to—and why?
While I am very intrigued by the Builders tracks, I am most looking forward to the interactive sessions. I attended a few last year (shoutout to Black Girls Code!), and it was a really cool opportunity to have intimate sessions with such influential people in the tech space. That kind of access is priceless.
If someone’s on the fence about attending, what would you tell them?
HumanX is like attending a five-star resort. It will ruin other conference experiences for you. Every minute detail has been thoughtfully curated (by my brilliant coworkers) to ensure every attendee has the most frictionless experience, and leaves feeling empowered to implement AI, and that every second was worth it. From the wayfinding to food options to the networking opportunities to the world-class speakers, we have high standards and are not afraid to be selective. We want only the best!
How would you describe HumanX in 3 words?
What’s one tool or habit that helps you stay on top of your game, either personally or professionally?
I like to be as organized as possible. Organization is foundational to good work and is often the first thing to get overlooked when people get busy or stressed. No matter how busy I get, I make the time to ensure the organization hasn’t slipped. One of the best things about HumanX is that we all value and thrive in organizing — it’s so refreshing to have like-minded and hardworking coworkers!
What’s a skill or lesson you’ve learned while working at HumanX?
I’ve learned and developed so many skills! Laura Marsden-Kish, our talented creative director, is an inspiring boss who shares great feedback/techniques and encourages new ideas, no matter how wacky! That creative freedom makes work fun and keeps it interesting for our audience.
What’s one thing that always makes your day better?
A walk! I’m a firm believer that every day can be improved by a little jaunt and seeing nature/your community. It’s great for your body…and productivity!
What’s one playlist or podcast that gets you through the day?
I like to hack my creativity with music and have playlists for every mood. From the days when I’m on a roll, feeling creative, and locked in to the days when I am feeling uninspired and need a little pick-me-up, I have a playlist. Lately, I’ve been excited about our upcoming announcements (no spoilers!), so I have been listening to a lot of neo soul. Lots of Maxwell and Jill Scott!
