How long you have been at HumanX: From the start!

What’s your background, and what brought you to HumanX?

After launching my first startup in the remote work space, I joined Primary to help incubate new ideas. That’s where I got deep into AI as the focus of VCs shifted from pandemic-era solutions to the future of artificial intelligence and where I first met Stefan and Jon.

Then right after ChatGPT launched, I spent a lot of time talking with F1000 execs to understand how they were using these tools. The same themes kept surfacing: too many tools, not enough time, and no real place to pressure-test ideas with peers.

I wasn’t interested in building a trade show. But I was interested in creating a forum where executives, startups, and policymakers could have real conversations about how AI actually gets implemented.

One year later, that idea became HumanX and 3,500 people came to Vegas to be part of it.

What are you most excited about for this year’s HumanX event?

For me, it’s the dog park.

We bring in adoptable dogs for attendees to play with and unwind, but it’s also a great example of what makes HumanX special. Last year, I saw a few CEOs bump into journalists, not because of a scheduled meeting, but because they were both trying to pet the same golden retriever.

Moments like that happen all over the event. The dog park just happens to be one of the most joyful ones. IBM sponsored it last year, and it’s always a crowd favorite.

How would you describe HumanX in 3 words?

Candid. Strategic. Human.

What’s a skill or lesson you’ve learned while working at HumanX?

With AI, you’ve got to be constantly testing new tools. Sometimes they work. Sometimes they don’t. But especially when it comes to personal productivity, you can’t really know until you try.

I’ve probably increased my output by 50% just by experimenting with new AI-powered workflows. That said, we’ve also tested plenty of tools that didn’t deliver. The key is staying curious, hungry, and open to the idea that the machine might be faster, or smarter, at certain things.

What’s one thing that always makes your day better?

Running into a dog in the elevator, a sunny day, closing a deal, or an extra dirty martini. Any two of those in a day and I’m good.

If you could teleport anywhere for lunch, where are you going?

A taco stand in Mexico City with zero line and warm tortillas straight off the grill.
