Deep Nishar is Managing Director and member of the Management Committee at General Catalyst, partnering with founders from seed to growth stage. He co-leads the fund’s investment practices in AI, software and tech bio.

Some of Deep’s representative AI and software investments over the years include Arm (ARM), Adept, BostonDynamics (HYMTF), Latent, Modular, OSIsoft (SBGSY), Qualtrics (XM), SambaNova, SonarSource, Symbotic Systems (SYM), and Slack (CRM).

Deep has also been active at the frontiers of computational biology and has led investments in 10X Genomics (TXG), Guardant Health (GH), Insitro, and Relay Therapeutics (RLAY).

Prior to his investing career, Deep spent over two decades in operational roles, first as the co-founder of infrastructure software company Patkai Networks, and then as an early product executive at Google in 2003 where achievements included establishing the company’s mobile business beginning in 2005 and winning the Google Founders Award for his work on Google Ads infrastructure.

From 2009-2014, as the CPO, he led the overall consumer and monetization product strategy and user experience at LinkedIn where efforts yielded the world’s largest and most powerful professional network with 347 million members worldwide. He was also responsible for P&L of all online revenue streams ($869 million in 2014). Deep is the co-author of 14 U.S. patents.
