While working as a data scientist in London, he realized he was hitting his overdraft each month and needed a genuinely engaging product that would help him get a grip on his finances and fight back against the banks. Barney built the first version of Cleo over six years ago, with the belief that AI-powered conversational interfaces would one day become the norm for managing personal finances. He has since scaled the company to success in the US supported by over $137m in funding from top tier VCs including Balderton, EQT Ventures.
